Facial Trauma Treatment

Facial Fracture Surgery

If you have suffered a facial fracture, surgery may require jaw wiring and the placement of fixation plates. Carefully placed incisions will be made to allow an accurate realignment of the fracture. In some cases, the bone can be repaired without any incisions. This form of reconstructive surgery is performed under general anaesthesia, and routinely well tolerated.

Facial Wound Surgery

Facial wounds and lacerations often occur as a result of accidents, assault or sporting injuries. Trauma to the skin and facial features can be treated under local anaesthesia or in hospital as a day procedure.

How to minimise scarring after surgery?

These injuries can be very distressing and our team strive to look after you in a caring and efficient manner. Typically, as a result of a facial laceration, scarring will occur. Using precise surgical repair and attentive wound management, we hope to achieve minimal scarring. Dr Reddy is trained to delicately repair all types of facial injuries using advanced techniques to minimise any long-term impact on facial appearance and function.

Our non surgical services are routinely also offered to minimise scarring in the long term. Dr Reddy will discuss in detail the various options in optimising your healing and final aesthetic result. Various modalities, including silicone treatment and light therapy will be discussed with you.

If you have an existing scar from an old injury, Dr Reddy can also perform a scar revision procedure to improve your appearance and minimise the appearance of your existing scar. Scar revision surgery can be routinely performed under a local anaesthetic as a walk-in and walk-out treatment.
